Work-related vehicle incidents are a major cause of work-related fatalities, injuries, and risk to the health and safety of workers (and the public) both in New Zealand and internationally.

WorkSafe has made working in and around vehicles a priority focus area.

As a PCBU (Person Conducting a Business or Undertaking) you have a duty of care for the health, safety, and wellbeing of your workers. It's in your interest to stay up to date with the regulator’s activities to ensure your workers go home healthy and safe.

Managing site traffic and effective seatbelt use are high risk priority areas. In 2020, ShopCare worked with WorkSafe to gather feedback from the industry. Industry feedback was reviewed by WorkSafe and used in the development of  a number of Good Practice Guidelines.

Managing Work Site traffic”, "Safe Reversing and Spotting Practices” and “Seatbelts at Work” were released in February 2021 and can be found on the WorkSafe website.

Together with WorkSafe, ShopCare ran free Working in and Around Vehicles Webinars in the first half of 2021 to engage with industry on the Good Practice Guidelines.

A number of sessions were organised with a range of co-hosts, so you could select one that best suited your timeframe.
